JIoD is committed to advance corporate governance in Jordan and the MENA region at large.
As part of that commitment, we regularly hold awareness raising events that are open to the public to come and learn about the various aspects of corporate governance.
Our aim is to increase the culture and understanding towards corporate governance which we believe would increase compliance with corporate governance principles and practices.
JIoD in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – Member of the World Bank Group successfully launched its sixth annual conference about "SME Governance" on December 18, 2017. The conference featured eight dialogue sessions with various enriching topics that show the importance of applying governance to SME enterprises. 100 participants representing business professionals , researcher's and officials attended the event. Graduation ceremony for a distinguished group of businesswomen and businessmen whom successfully completed our flagship program “The Board of Directors Certification Program” in corporate governance during 2017 took place at the end of the conference.

JIoD in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – Member of the World Bank Group successfully conducted a conference on "Corporate Governance Climate in Jordan" on December 8, 2016. More than 130 business professionals and officials representing diverse types of companies and sectors in Jordan attended this event.
Formal representations from the major regulatory organizations and governance bodies in Jordan is what made this event unique, given that it is the first time to have the central bank of Jordan, Jordan Securities Commission, Amman Stock Exchange and Companies Department in one session in a public event.

JIoD launched the JIoD Alumni initiative with a quiz night on April 11, 2016. Graduates of JIoD programs attended this event to network with likeminded people and continue learning through a different format – in this case, a quiz night focused on corporate governance general knowledge. Participants were divided into five teams and there were three rounds packed with fun-filled facts about corporate governance. The rounds consisted of multiple choice questions and some role playing to engaged the participants in raising awareness towards best practices.

JIoD in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – Member of the World Bank Group successfully conducted a conference on "Women on Boards; The Impact of Gender Diversity in Boardrooms on Companies' Financial Performance" which took place on December 14, 2015. More than 110 business professionals from both genders representing a variety of companies and sectors in Jordan attended this event.
The conference featured seven sessions which presented the key findings from the "Gender Research Study"; a panel on "Gender Diversity and its Impact towards Building Effective Boards"; a panel on "The Impact of Gender Diversity on Companies Performance and Operations"; and, a keynote speech by Amman Stock Exchange regarding the national commitment towards gender diversity.

JIoD in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – Member of the World Bank Group successfully conducted a conference on "Family Business Governance" in December 16, 2014. The event hosted more than 120 attendees, businessmen representing family owned businesses in Jordan, listed companies, academics and regulatory authorities.
Dr. Ahmad Attiga, IFC Principal Country Officer and JIoD board member, highlighted the steps necessary to launch corporate governance reform for family businesses.
JIoD hosted distinguished international and national speakers, each of whom spoke about the importance of corporate governance for family owned businesses, about their experience and challenges in terms of corporate governance for their business.

JIoD in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – Member of the World Bank Group successfully conducted a conference on "Compliance and Corporate Governance", which took place on February 27, 2014. The conference highlighted the necessity of complying with the laws and regulations issued by the various legislative bodies in the Kingdom as well as the importance of complying with the international best practices of corporate governance. Speakers discussed that complying with internal policies, procedures and processes is no less important than external compliance, where it shows the ethical commitment of the company.

To commemorate the establishment and achievements of the JIoD, the JIoD in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – Member of the World Bank Group held an event on June 17, 2013 to address the "Drivers of Corporate Governance in Jordan" with the objective of raising awareness on the principles of corporate governance and introduce tools and best practices to drive further implementation of corporate governance in Jordan. At the event, H.E Ms. Maha Al Ali also graduated the participants that completed the course.

On March 12, 2018, Amman Stock Exchange (ASE), hosted the Fourth Annual Celebration of the Gender Equality initiative in Jordan "Ringing the Bell for Gender Equality Stock Exchange Initiative" which was organized by the ASE in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – Member of the World Bank Group, and Jordan Institute of Directors (JIoD).
The event started by ringing the bell to start the trading session at the ASE on the day on which it coincided with the celebration of Women's International Day. This was done in the presence of the business professionals, both men and women, individuals interested in Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Principles, Gender Equality, brokerage firms, Public Shareholding Companies and capital market institutions.

In celebration of International Women's Day, International Finance Corporation (IFC) – Member of the World Bank Group in collaboration with Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) and JIoD implemented the initiative of Ringing the Bell for Gender Equality Stock Exchange Initiative in Jordan at ASE premises on March 9, 2016.
Ringing the Bell for Gender Equality Stock Exchange Initiative is an initiative supported by the United Nations Global Compact, UN Women, the World Federation of Exchanges, and Women in ETFs at the global level. The events as a result of this initiative aim to showcase the business case for gender equality and highlight how private sector leaders are already taking concrete steps to invest in women in the workplace, marketplace and community.
